Mogadishu (MFASomalia) – President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, H.E. Dr. Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, took a decisive step on January 6 by signing into law a legislation passed by the two Houses of Parliament, effectively nullifying the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between Ethiopia and Somaliland administration. The move, marks a bold stance by the Federal Government of Somalia against what it deems an illegal agreement between Ethiopia and the Somaliland administration.

The President expressed gratitude for the support of lawmakers and the Somali people, emphasizing that the legislation underscores the nation’s commitment to safeguarding its unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity in accordance with international law.
