Somali President identifies Al-Shabaab and Ethiopia as enemies

Mogadishu (MFASomalia) – In a address to the Martyrs Mosque after Friday prayers on January 12, H.E. Dr. Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, the President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, asserted that the nation faces two primary adversaries: the extremist group Al-Shabaab and neighboring Ethiopia. President Hassan emphasized the determination of the federal government and its people to safeguard Somalia’s national sovereignty against both external and internal threats.

“We are competent in defending our country. We are among the sons of our ancestors who defended the country, but we do not tolerate those who attack our country and try to divide it,” declared President Hassan Sheikh during the speech. The President issued a stern warning to Ethiopia, cautioning against any violation of Somalia’s sovereignty. He underscored the historical resilience of the Somali people and their commitment to preserving their nation’s unity and territorial integrity.
