Foreign Minister Ambassador Ahmed Moallim Fiqi during his recent visit to Uganda for the AU Summit on CAADP, toured the Somali Embassy in Kampala. Accompanied by Permanent Secretary Hamza Adan Haadoow , the Minister was warmly welcomed by Somalia’s Ambassador to Uganda, Amb. Fardowsa Mohamed Kanyare, and the embassy staff.
The visit highlighted the government’s commitment to strengthening international partnerships and supporting the Somali diaspora in Uganda.
The Minister emphasized the embassy’s critical role as a vital link for Somalis abroad and praised the staff for their professionalism and dedication to advancing Somalia’s diplomatic goals. He commended Amb. Fardowsa for her exceptional leadership and notable achievements since her appointment, reinforcing the embassy’s importance in promoting Somalia’s interests.
A key focus of the visit was improving service delivery for Somali citizens and diaspora members in Uganda. Plans were outlined to streamline consular services, enhance communication, and support initiatives in education, business, and cultural engagement. These efforts align with Somalia’s vision of empowering its diaspora to contribute meaningfully to both the host nation and Somalia’s development.
PS Hamza Haadow motivated the staff, emphasizing their vital role in maintaining Somalia’s positive global image. He reassured them of the Ministry’s continued support and commitment to addressing the community’s needs, ensuring cohesive service delivery, and fostering stronger international ties.
