In a landmark effort to foster stronger connections with the Somali diaspora, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Ambassador Ahmed Moalim Fiqi, engaged directly with Somali community leaders, business figures, students, and representatives in Uganda.
Ambassador Fiqi shared critical updates on Somalia’s progress, highlighting the government’s unwavering fight against the terrorist group Al-Shabaab, the implementation of the Ankara Declaration, and preparations for Somalia’s historic one-person, one-vote elections in 2025 (local) and 2026 (national).

The meeting was a platform for the Somali diaspora to voice their experiences and challenges while living in Uganda. This open dialogue emphasized the government’s deep commitment to understanding and addressing diaspora concerns while celebrating their invaluable contributions to Somalia’s development.

This initiative reflects the Ministry’s broader goal of strengthening partnerships with Somali communities abroad. By ensuring their voices are heard and their needs prioritized, Somalia is building a stronger, united future.
