Appointment as Foreign Minister

H.E. Amb. Ahmed Moallim Fiqi was appointed Minister of Foreign Affairs and                International Cooperation by His Excellency Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre on April 7, 2024. He brings a wealth of expertise in diplomacy, governance, and security to his role, advancing Somalia’s foreign policy and international partnerships.

Experiences

  • Minister of Interior, Federal Affairs, and Reconciliation, Somalia (2022–2024):
    Led efforts to strengthen governance, promote federalism, and foster national reconciliation.
  • Member of the House of People of the Federal Parliament of Somalia (2016–2022):
    Contributed to legislative reforms and represented Somalia’s interests in the Federal Parliament.
  • Minister of Internal Security of Galmudug State of Somalia (2020–2021):
    Oversaw internal security operations and institutional reforms within the Galmudug State.
