Port Sudan (MFASomalia) – The Embassy of the Federal Republic of Somalia in Sudan succeeded today in evacuating 31 Somali citizens from Port Sudan after they were detained for five months by a smuggling network in Sudan and were released in an operation conducted by the Sudanese Coast Guard.
Mr. Ahmed Abdi Hassan, Chargé d’Affaires of the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Somalia to Sudan, stated that among those released were seven girls and expressed gratitude to the Transitional Sovereignty Council of Sudan and the International Organization for Migration (IOM) for their cooperative role, calling for efforts to dismantle smuggling networks and prevent the risks of illegal and dangerous migration.
