The Federal Republic of Somalia welcomes the adoption of a new resolution by the United Nations Human Rights Council on Wednesday, October 8, which reaffirms the international community’s commitment to strengthening human rights, good governance, and institutional resilience in Somalia.

This important resolution represents a renewed chapter in Somalia’s cooperative engagement with the Council, underscoring shared principles of partnership, accountability, and respect for human dignity.

It stands as a testament to the tangible progress achieved in Somalia’s state-building journey and to the Government’s unwavering determination to advance national reforms that safeguard the rights and freedoms of all citizens.

The Federal Republic of Somalia values this milestone as a reflection of mutual trust and constructive dialogue between Somalia and its international partners. The transition from an independent expert mandate to a collaborative framework with the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights demonstrates growing national ownership, institutional maturity, and an evolving capacity to address human rights challenges through nationally driven solutions.

The Federal Republic of Somalia expresses deep appreciation to all member states and partners who have supported this resolution and continue to stand with Somalia in its reform agenda.
