Somali FM Discusses Strengthening Cooperation with UN Special Representative

Mogadishu (MFA Somalia) – The Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, H.E. Mr. Abdisalam Abdi Ali, received on Sunday at his office in the Ministry in the capital, Mogadishu, the Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General for Somalia and Head of the United Nations Transitional Assistance Mission in Somalia (UNTMIS), H.E. Amb. James Swan, on a courtesy call.
Amb. James Swan extended his congratulations to the Minister on assuming his new responsibilities and conveyed the United Nations’ support and commitment to strengthening cooperation, and briefed him on the UN’s transition plans in Somalia focused on advancing good governance, supporting electoral processes, promoting human rights, and enhancing the partnership with the Federal Government of Somalia.
On his side, Minister Abdisalam expressed appreciation to the United Nations for its continued support and cooperation, emphasizing the importance of further strengthening the partnership between the two sides.
