Mogadishu (MFA Somalia) – The Federal Government of Somalia successfully evacuated 165 Somali citizens from Libya on Thursday, rescuing them from challenging and dangerous circumstances. Of these, 152 were brought to the capital, Mogadishu, while 13 arrived in Hargeisa.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Somalia, H.E. Abdisalam Abdi Ali, has been actively involved in monitoring and advocating for Somali citizens detained or affected abroad.
This follows a similar operation on October 27, when 160 citizens were repatriated from Yemen.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation has consistently worked to safeguard Somali citizens abroad. On November 13, through diplomatic negotiations with the government of Togo, the ministry secured the release of 16 Somali nationals who had been imprisoned for one year and nine months.
The Federal Government of Somalia remains committed to protecting its citizens and facilitating their safe return from overseas hardships.
