Vehicle Services

In accordance with the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations and the Vienna Convention on Consular Relations, and subject to the applicable national regulations, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Federal Republic of Somalia provides a comprehensive range of vehicle-related services to embassies, consulates, regional organizations, and international organizations. These services are designed to support the operational needs of diplomatic and consular missions, ensuring full compliance with both international protocols and national regulations, including applicable duty-free privileges.

1. Vehicle Import and Export Support

• Assistance with the import and export of vehicles used for official purposes by diplomatic missions, consular posts, and international organizations.
• Provision of necessary documentation for customs clearance in accordance with both the Vienna Conventions and national regulations, ensuring entitlement to duty-free privileges where applicable.

2. Vehicle Registration and Ownership Assistance

• Facilitation of vehicle registration and issuance of diplomatic or consular license plates, in compliance with both international and national standards.
• Issuance of supporting letters for vehicle ownership verification and for fulfilling related administrative requirements, consistent with the relevant national regulations.

3. Duty-Free Fuel Privileges

• Issuance of supporting letters for access to duty-free fuel for vehicles used in the official capacity of diplomatic or consular missions.
• Coordination with local authorities to ensure that fuel privileges are granted in accordance with Vienna Convention provisions, as well as national laws governing such privileges.

4. Vehicle Donation and Total Loss Assistance

• Provision of guidance and necessary documentation for the donation of vehicles between diplomatic missions, consular posts, and authorized international organizations.
• Assistance with processing claims and necessary paperwork for vehicles declared a total loss, ensuring compliance with both the Vienna Conventions and applicable national regulations.

5. Sale and Transfer of Vehicles

• Support for the sale or transfer of vehicles between diplomatic missions, consulates, and international organizations, in accordance with both national and international regulations.
• Issuance of required documentation to facilitate ownership transfers, ensuring legal compliance with national laws and Vienna Convention provisions.

6. Return or Cancellation of Diplomatic License Plates

• Management of the return or cancellation of diplomatic or consular license plates upon the conclusion of official assignments or vehicle disposal.

Assistance with the deregistration of vehicles in line with national regulations, in compliance with the Vienna Convention’s provisions for diplomatic privileges.
