Mogadishu (MFA Somalia) – The Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, H.E. Abdisalam Abdi Ali, inaugurated on Saturday at the Institute of Diplomatic Studies in the Somali capital Mogadishu a one-month diplomatic training course for six diplomats, aiming to enhance their professional skills, strengthen Somalia’s diplomatic capacity, and prepare them for effective international representation.
The opening ceremony was attended by H.E. Amb. Abdoulkader Houssein Omar, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the brotherly Republic of Djibouti, and Mr. Mohamed Mohamud Gure, Director of the Institute of Diplomatic Studies.
Minister Abdisalam urged the participants to fully engage with the program and take advantage of the learning opportunities, stressing that professional development is essential for enhancing Somalia’s diplomatic presence and promoting effective international relations.
The training course provides diplomats with in-depth knowledge and practical skills necessary for effective international engagement, including guidance on negotiation strategies, diplomatic protocols, international law, and conflict resolution, ensuring they are well-prepared to represent Somalia in bilateral and multilateral forums.
The Institute of Diplomatic Studies continues to play a key role in Somalia’s diplomatic efforts, offering programs that enhance the capacity, knowledge, and professionalism of the country’s foreign service and contributing to broader goals of regional integration and international engagement.
