➡️ On July 1, the Southern Regions gained independence and subsequently united with the Northern Regions, leading to the formation of the Somali Republic. This momentous event is commemorated annually as Somalia Independence Day, marking the day when the country emerged as a unified, sovereign state.

➡️ On June 26, the northern regions of Somalia gained their independence, an important milestone towards uniting with the southern regions and establishing a sovereign Somali Republic.

➡️ 12 Rabi’ al-Awwal in the Hijri calendar is recognized as the day of the Prophet Muhammad’s birth, a deeply respected event in Islamic culture.

➡️ The Islamic New Year, observed as an official holiday in Somalia, grants employees in both the public and private sectors the day off to commemorate the occasion.

➡️ On May 1st, Labour Day is celebrated worldwide, recognizing and honoring the contributions and achievements of workers across various industries and sectors. It serves as a reminder of the importance of labor rights, fair working conditions, and the solidarity of the labor movement.

➡️ Eid al-Fitr is a widely celebrated holiday in Somalia and many other Islamic countries, marking the end of Ramadan. It begins on the first day of Shawwal in the Hijri calendar each year, with Muslims rejoicing in the culmination of a month of fasting and spiritual reflection.

➡️ Eid al-Adha is highly revered in Somalia, much like in other Islamic nations. It is a time when Muslims commemorate by sacrificing animals, enjoying feasts, and visiting loved ones. In Somalia, this holiday is distinguished by exchanging congratulatory messages, adorning homes with decorations, distributing sacrificial animals, and hosting gatherings with family and friends. Eid al-Adha consistently falls on the 10th day of Dhul-Hijjah in the Hijri calendar each year.
