Bibliography – Mahad Mohamed Abukar

Mahad  has built a distinguished career in international trade, governance, and policy formulation within the Somali government. Since January 2025, he has been serving as the Director of Productive and Economic Infrastructure at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs specifically EAC section of the Ministry. His expertise extends to investment promotion, as he has been a Member of the Foreign Investment Board in Somalia under the Ministry of Planning and Investment Promotion since July 2021. Additionally, he has played a pivotal role in trade facilitation as a  Member of the Somali National Trade Facilitation Committee under the Office of the Prime Minister since June 2020.

His tenure at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs includes serving as Director of Legal and Treaties from  2019 to December 2024 and as Director of Admin and Finance from 2018 to  2019. Demonstrating his leadership in trade policy, His diplomatic expertise includes serving as Head of the European Section at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Academically, Mahad holds a Master of Science in International Trade Policy and Law from Lund University (2022- 2024). He also earned a Diploma in Trade Policy from the National Board of Trade in Sweden 2022, His legal education includes postgraduate studies in International Law and Legal Studies at Somali National University (2019-2020) and a Diploma in Professional Law from Mogadishu University (2014-2015).

Additionally, he holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in International Business from Asia e University (2012-2014) and a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and Management from Mogadishu University. His career and academic achievements reflect his deep commitment to legal, economic, and trade policy development in Somalia.
