Foreign Minister Ahmed Moalim Fiqi Holds Discussions with Indian Delegation on Visa Facilitation Centre in Mogadishu

Mogadishu, Somalia – Foreign Minister and International Cooperation Ambassador Ahmed Moalim Fiqi recently met with a delegation from the High Commission of India in Nairobi to advance discussions on establishing a visa facilitation centre in Mogadishu. This meeting follows several prior engagements aimed at finalizing the agreement between Somalia and India.

The discussions, also attended by Mr. Said Jama Mire, Director of the Asia and Australia Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, emphasized the strategic importance of the centre, particularly for the growing number of Somali citizens traveling to India, primarily for healthcare services.

The proposed facility is expected to simplify the visa application process, eliminating the need for Somalis to travel to neighboring countries for visa services and reducing associated costs. The new centre will significantly streamline the process, making it more accessible and cost-effective, thereby strengthening bilateral ties and fostering greater cooperation between Somalia and India.
