Foreign Ministry Holds One-Day Workshop on Archives Management

Mogadishu (MFA Somalia) – The Archives Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, in collaboration with the Institute of Diplomatic Studies, organized a workshop on archives management on Sunday at the institute’s headquarters. The initiative aimed to enhance best practices in document preservation and institutional memory.
The session was led by Nasrulah Mohamed Jama, who provided insights into modern archival techniques, emphasizing the importance of safeguarding official records and historical documents.
Speaking at the opening, the Director of the Institute of Diplomatic Studies, Mr. Mohamed Mohamud Gure, underscored the significance of efficient archival management in supporting research, ensuring institutional continuity, and educating future diplomats. He highlighted the role of archives in preserving national history and enhancing decision-making processes.
Dr. Ahmed Osman Dhore, Director of the Archives Department, emphasized the practical benefits of the workshop, noting that improved documentation practices would strengthen the ministry’s ability to maintain accurate records, streamline administrative processes, and uphold confidentiality.
The workshop is part of broader efforts to modernize the ministry’s archival system, ensuring compliance with international standards and facilitating knowledge transfer within the institution.
