Foreign Ministry Showcases Somalia’s Diplomatic Achievements at Dan-Qaran Government Exhibition in Mogadishu

Mogadishu (MFA Somalia) – The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation on Wednesday evening, 17 September, presented its achievements over the past three years under the Dan-Qaran Government, highlighting a foreign policy approach described as “Somalia at peace with the world” and showcasing the country’s expanding diplomatic presence and international partnerships.The Ministry presented its achievements at an open booth in the capital, Mogadishu, titled “Performance Exhibition of the Dan-Qaran Government 2022-2025,” in which various government ministries and agencies participated.

The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Hon. Isaak Mohamud Mursal, presided over the Ministry’s booth, joined by the Ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Mr. Hamza Adan Haadoow, several department directors, and other officials.

The Deputy Minister, Hon. Isaak Mursal, briefed the President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, H.E. Dr. Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, who was accompanied by the Prime Minister, H.E. Hamza Abdi Barre, and the Deputy Prime Minister, H.E. Salah Ahmed Jama, on the Ministry’s achievements over the past three years, during their tour of the Ministry’s booth showcasing its diplomatic successes.

The Ministry highlighted the achievements of the current Minister, H.E. Abdisalam Abdi Ali, appointed on 27 April 2025, as well as those of his predecessors, including H.E. Amb. Ahmed Moallim Fiqi, who served from 7 April 2024 to 27 April 2025, and H.E. Abshir Omar Jama (Huruse), who held office from August 2022 to December 2023, while also recognizing the contributions of the current State Minister, Hon. Ali Mohamed Omar, who served as Acting Minister from 18 December 2023 to 7 April 2024.During the past three years, the Ministry achieved significant milestones, including securing Somalia’s membership in the United Nations Security Council for the 2025–2026 term, the lifting of the UN arms embargo through Resolution 2714 (2023), official accession to the East African Community (EAC) on 4 March 2024, and the firm defense of Somalia’s unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity.The Ministry’s diplomatic successes also included establishing new diplomatic relations with 13 countries, reconstructing Somali embassies in Tanzania, France, and Zambia, and reopening new embassy buildings in Algeria and South Africa, accepting credentials from 43 ambassadors and representatives, participating in 52 international and regional conferences, appointing 24 ambassadors and 2 consuls-general, and receiving 88 foreign ambassadors, while expanding the “non-resident” ambassador activesates to represent Somalia in 83 countries, signing 53 agreements and memoranda of understanding with 24 countries and 2 organizations, and successfully repatriating 3,200 citizens stranded abroad back to Somalia.
