Mogadishu () MFA Somalia – The Institute of Diplomatic Studies at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation convened a scientific symposium on Sunday in the capital, Mogadishu, under the theme “The Importance of Somalia as a Non-Permanent Member of the Security Council for the Second Time.”
The event, which also served as a Ramadan iftar, was attended by Minister of Information, Culture and Tourism, H.E. Daud Aweis Jama, Minister of Justice and Constitutional Affairs, H.E. Hassan Moallin Mohamud, former Foreign Minister, Amb. Yusuf-Garaad Omar Ahmed, intellectuals, and civil society representatives.
Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, H.E. Amb. Ahmed Moallim Fiqi, opened the symposium, highlighting Somalia’s role in representing Africa’s voice on the Security Council and its commitment to international peace and security.
Director of the Institute of Diplomatic Studies, Mr. Mohamed Mohamud Gure, underscored the institute’s dedication to enhancing its programs and services.
Panelists deliberated on Somalia’s two-year tenure as a non-permanent member of the Security Council, discussing its significance and potential contributions.
During the event, attendees donated 560 books to enrich the institute’s library, supporting its mission to advance diplomatic research and studies.
