Minister Fiqi Heads High-Level Meeting to Ensure Somalia’s Active Role at FOCAC

Mogadishu (MFASomalia) – The Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, H.E. Amb. Ahmed Moallim Fiqi, presided over a key ministerial consultative meeting on Wednesday at the ministry’s headquarters in Mogadishu to align Somalia’s priorities ahead of the Ninth Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC), scheduled to take place in Beijing from September 4 to 6, 2024, focusing on ensuring Somalia’s active participation in the forum and emphasizing the importance of strategic planning for the nation’s future engagements.
During the meeting, several critical national agendas were discussed, spanning areas such as politics, security, investment, higher education, technology, energy, water, agriculture, trade, and fisheries. The Federal Government of Somalia is particularly focused on securing funding for a clean water project that would benefit all residents of Mogadishu, reflecting the government’s commitment to improving living conditions in the capital.
Attendees included key figures such as the Minister of Energy and Water Resources, H.E. Abdillahi Bidhan Warsame, the Minister of Trade and Industry, H.E. Jibril Abdirashid Haji Abdi, the Minister of Communications and Technology, H.E. Mohamed Adam Moallim Ali, and the Minister of Fisheries and Blue Economy, H.E. Ahmed Hassan Aden, along with the State Minister for Presidential Affairs, H.E. Abshir Mohamed Ahmed, the State Minister for Education, Culture, and Higher Education, H.E. Ms. Nuura Mustaf Guudow, the Chief of Staff of the Presidency of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Mr. Abdihakim Mohamed Yusuf, as well as other high-ranking officials, Directors General, and Department Directors.
