Mogadishu (MFA Somalia) – The Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Amb. Ahmed Moallim Fiqi Ahmed, participated on Thursday in a Ramadan iftar banquet hosted by the Ambassador of the the brotherly Republic of Türkiye to the Federal Republic of Somalia, H.E. Mr. Alper Aktaş.
During the event, Minister Fiqi delivered a speech, emphasizing the strong bilateral relations between Somalia and Türkiye. He expressed gratitude to the Turkish Embassy and Ambassador Aktaş for their continued support and partnership with Somalia.
In his speech, Minister Ahmed Fiqi reflected on the values of Ramadan, such as patience, generosity, and unity. He also highlighted Somalia’s ongoing national renewal efforts, focusing on governance reforms, the historic “one person, one vote” electoral process, and the importance of continued security efforts against terrorist threats.
The Minister noted that while security is vital, economic development, good governance, and social cohesion are essential for long-term peace and prosperity in Somalia. He reaffirmed Somalia’s commitment to strengthening relations and cooperation with all countries, as well as with regional and international organizations.
Minister Fiqi wished everyone a blessed Ramadan, calling for compassion, unity, and a future filled with stability and prosperity.
