Mogadishu hosts 5th Somali Diaspora Returnees Conference

Mogadishu (MFA Somalia) – The 5th Somali Diaspora Returnees Conference opened on Saturday in Mogadishu, inaugurated by H.E. Hamza Adan Haadoow, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.The gathering marked a significant milestone in strengthening ties between the Somali government and its diaspora community, focusing on how returnees can contribute to national development. The event highlighted the importance of harnessing the skills, knowledge, and experiences of Somalis abroad to support the country’s transformation agenda.

Under the theme “From Return to Transformation: Anchoring Diaspora Talent in the National Vision 2029,” the conference provided a platform for dialogue and collaboration among policymakers, diaspora professionals, and local stakeholders.Discussions centered on integrating diaspora expertise into Somalia’s long-term vision, emphasizing innovation, capacity building, and inclusive growth.
