The Federal Republic of Somalia extends its deepest condolences and sincere sympathies to the Government and people of the sisterly People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria following the fires that broke out on Wednesday, 26 August 2026, in several parts of the country, particularly in the Province of Béjaïa, which reportedly claimed a number of lives and left many citizens seriously injured.
Somalia expresses its full solidarity with Algeria at this painful time, shares in the grief of the bereaved families, and prays for those receiving treatment in hospital, wishing them a swift recovery and a safe return to their homes. Somalia commends the Algerian authorities and emergency services working to contain the fires and protect affected communities.
The Federal Republic of Somalia reaffirms its steadfast support for Algeria and its brotherly people at this difficult time.
