Mogadishu, Somalia
June 18, 2025
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation affirms unequivocally that all members of the official Somali delegation who participated in the 113th Session of the International Labour Conference in Geneva have returned to the country in full accordance with their mandate and responsibilities. The Ministry categorically rejects the unfounded claims circulating in certain media and online platforms, which seek to misrepresent this reality through unverified and sensationalist narratives.
It is both disappointing and deeply regrettable that some media outlets and individuals on social media have chosen to spread misinformation without adhering to the principles of verification or professional due diligence. Such actions not only undermine the credibility of national institutions, but also erode public trust and detract from the significant contributions made by the Somali delegation in advancing the rights and welfare of workers through active and constructive engagement in global policy dialogue.
The Ministry therefore calls upon all media professionals, commentators, and social media users to uphold the highest standards of journalistic integrity and responsible communication. The national interest must never be compromised by speculative reporting or partisan agendas. The Ministry reiterates its unwavering commitment to protecting the dignity of Somalia’s representatives and to fostering a culture of transparency, accountability, and principled international cooperation.
