The Federal Republic of Somalia welcomes the mediation efforts led by His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Emir of the State of Qatar, in facilitating dialogue between the Democratic Republic of the Congo and the Republic of Rwanda. The trilateral meeting held in Doha marks an important step toward fostering peace and stability in the Eastern DRC and the wider region.

Somalia commends the commitment of all parties to an immediate and unconditional ceasefire, as reaffirmed at the EAC-SADC summit in Dar es Salaam, and recognizes the importance of the ongoing Luanda and Nairobi processes.

The discussions initiated in Doha serve as a crucial foundation for achieving a sustainable resolution to the crisis, ensuring security, stability, and development in the Great Lakes region.

As a country committed to peace and regional cooperation, Somalia expresses its full support for these diplomatic efforts and stands in solidarity with the people of the Democratic Republic of the Congo and the Republic of Rwanda in their pursuit of lasting peace and prosperity. We extend our appreciation to the State of Qatar for its role in promoting constructive dialogue and mediation to resolve conflicts through peaceful means.
