Geneva (MFA Somalia) – The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Hon. Isaak Mohamud Mursal, participated on Saturday in a high-level session in Geneva titled “Africa Migration at a Crossroads: From Cooperation to Solutions,” convened by the International Organization for Migration (IOM) in partnership with the governments of Botswana, Senegal, Tunisia, and Uganda.
The Deputy Minister joined fellow ministers, senior officials, and international partners to explore practical and collaborative approaches to Africa’s migration challenges. He emphasized the importance of regional cooperation, human-centered migration governance, and the pursuit of durable solutions for displaced communities.
Deputy Minister Isaak Mursal highlighted Somalia’s progress in strengthening migration governance, enhancing protection along key migration routes, modernizing border and identity management systems, and addressing the humanitarian and climate-related drivers of displacement.
Hon. Isaak emphasized Somalia’s continued efforts to reinforce migration governance, improve protection along major migration routes, modernize border and identity-management systems, and address the humanitarian and climate-related factors contributing to displacement.
Somalia continues to work closely with IOM, IGAD, the African Union, and global partners to transform migration challenges into sustainable pathways for stability, opportunity, and development.
