Somali FM Condemns Israel’s Illegal Recognition of Somaliland region in Somalia

Mogadishu, (MFA Somalia) – The Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, H.E. Abdisalam Abdi Ali, condemned Israel’s illegal recognition of parts of Somalia’s northern regions, calling the move a violation of the country’s sovereignty.

Speaking at a press conference at the Ministry in Mogadishu, the Minister reaffirmed that Somalia’s territorial integrity, on both land and at sea, is inviolable under the Somali Constitution, the United Nations Charter, and the African Union Constitutive Act. He described Israel’s action as a direct threat to national unity and regional stability.

The Minister highlighted that the government’s stance follows resolutions from both the House of the People and the Upper House, as well as the President’s address to a joint parliamentary session. He warned that any attempt to partition Somalia would be countered through all necessary diplomatic and legal measures, with the engagement of the Somali people, allied countries, and international organizations.

He called on Israel to immediately revoke its illegal recognition, emphasizing the risk it poses to the Red Sea, the Gulf of Aden, and Middle East security.
