Mogadishu (MFA Somalia) – The Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, H.E. Abdisalam Abdi Ali, held a call on Tuesday with H.E. Ms. Thérèse Kayikwamba Wagner, Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Francophonie of the friendly Democratic Republic of the Congo, and discussed with her ways to enhance bilateral relations and strengthen regional cooperation.
During the conversation, Minister Abdisalam congratulated the Democratic Republic of the Congo on its election to the United Nations Security Council as a non-permanent member for the 2026–2027 term, and reaffirmed Somalia’s commitment to working closely within the A3 group. He also commended the DRC’s role in recent peace agreements and stressed the importance of regional stability.
Both sides discussed collaboration within the UN, the East African Community, and explored opportunities in trade, infrastructure, security, and people-to-people movement.
The two ministers agreed to deepen cooperation across shared areas of interest and to establish mechanisms that will facilitate regular diplomatic engagement and sustained partnership.
