Somali FM Explores Joint Cooperation with Iraqi Deputy PM in Baghdad

Baghdad (MFA Somalia) – The Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, H.E. Abdisalam Abdi Ali, met on Wednesday in Baghdad with the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Iraq, H.E. Fuad Hussein, and discussed with him ways to strengthen bilateral relations and expand cooperation between the two brotherly countries.

The discussions covered a range of topics, including expanding collaboration in the sectors of livestock, fisheries, and the blue economy, alongside political consultations, mutual coordination, and aligning positions on key regional and international developments. Both ministers underscored the importance of strengthening diplomatic engagement and broadening cooperation in mutually beneficial areas.The Iraqi Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs reaffirmed his country’s principled support for the Somali government and people, highlighting Iraq’s solidarity with Somalia in its efforts toward peace and development.

The two sides reiterated their commitment to deepening Somali-Iraqi ties, fostering peace and stability, and building a durable partnership that reflects the shared interests and aspirations of the two brotherly countries and peoples.
