Somali FM Inaugurates New Embassy in Algiers to Boost Bilateral Relations

Algiers, (MFA Somalia) – The Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, H.E. Abdisalam Abdi Ali, inaugurated on Sunday evening the new headquarters of the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Somalia in Algiers, in a ceremony attended by Ms. Salma Bakhta Mansouri, Secretary of State to the Algerian Minister of Foreign Affairs in charge of African Affairs, along with members of the diplomatic corps led by Ambassador Yusuf Ahmed Hassan “Jeego”.

During the event, Minister Abdisalam expressed Somalia’s strong commitment to strengthening and expanding bilateral relations with Algeria, emphasizing the importance of fostering cooperation based on shared interests, mutual respect, and long-term partnership.

In her remarks, Ms. Salma Mansouri highlighted the deep-rooted historical ties between the two brotherly nations and reaffirmed Algeria’s unwavering dedication to supporting Somalia’s development and advancing collaboration across multiple sectors.

Both dignitaries acknowledged the significance of their countries’ concurrent membership on the United Nations Security Council, noting that this unique platform presents enhanced opportunities for constructive dialogue, consultation, and coordinated efforts to address critical challenges facing the African continent.

The embassy inauguration took place within the framework of Minister Abdisalam’s official working visit to Algeria from August 9 to 11, further underscoring the shared commitment to nurturing and elevating bilateral diplomatic relations.
