Mogadishu (MFA Somalia) – The Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, H.E. Amb. Ahmed Moallim Fiqi, on Wednesday laid the foundation stone for a new building for the Diaspora Affairs Management Center, which is sponsored by the People’s Republic of China.

In his remarks, Minister Fiqi expressed gratitude for the support in establishing the Diaspora Affairs Management Center, highlighting the enduring friendship between the two nations. He extended his appreciation to the Chinese government for its continued cooperation in advancing this important project, as well as for its contributions to other key projects in the country that support growth and development.

Chinese Ambassador to Somalia, H.E. Mr. Wang Yu, reaffirmed China’s commitment to supporting Somalia’s national initiatives and development, expressing confidence that the partnership will continue to strengthen and bring mutual benefits.

The new management center for diaspora affairs, located at the Ministry’s headquarters, will feature two floors, including a hall for gatherings and administrative offices.

The establishment of the center represents a pivotal step in deepening the country’s engagement with its diaspora community. Serving as a strategic platform, it will facilitate coordinated efforts to harness the potential of Somalis abroad, encouraging their active participation in national development. Through its initiatives, the center will ensure the effective mobilization of the diaspora’s expertise and resources, fostering sustainable growth and strengthening the nation’s global connections.
