Baghdad (MFA Somalia) – The Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, H.E. Abdisalam Abdi Ali, met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Expatriates of the Arab Republic of Egypt, H.E. Dr. Badr Abdelatty, on the sidelines of the preparatory meeting for the 34th Ordinary Session of the Council of Arab Foreign Ministers at the summit level hosted by the sisterly Republic of Iraq
During the meeting, Minister Abdisalam expressed his appreciation for Egypt’s support for peace and stability in Somalia, commended its participation in the African Union Support and Stabilization Mission in Somalia (AUSSOM), and affirmed his keenness to strengthen bilateral cooperation and benefit from its expertise in various fields
For his part, Minister Abdelatty also extended congratulations to Minister Abdisalam on his new role and reaffirmed Egypt’s commitment to strengthening fraternal ties, noting that bilateral relations had reached a strategic level following the Somali President’s visit to Cairo in January 2025.
He further stressed Egypt’s unwavering support for Somalia’s unity and sovereignty, emphasized that stability in Somalia is essential for regional peace and security, and underscored Egypt’s commitment to supporting capacity-building, development, and enabling state institutions to fulfil responsibilities.
The two sides agreed to deepen cooperation frameworks and continue coordination to promote regional stability through joint action.
