Ashgabat (MFA Somalia) – The Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, H.E. Abdisalam Abdi Ali, participated on Friday in the International Forum for Peace and Trust held in Ashgabat, the capital city of Turkmenistan, representing the President of the Federal Republic of Somalia. The forum brought together government officials and international stakeholders to discuss peacebuilding, dialogue and international cooperation.

During his participation, Minister Abdisalam Abdi expressed Somalia’s appreciation to the Republic of Turkmenistan for its initiative at the United Nations General Assembly, which led to the adoption of a resolution designating 2025 as the International Year of Peace and Trust.
The minister reaffirmed Somalia’s support for multilateral efforts to advance peaceful coexistence and address shared international challenges. He highlighted the role of international forums in encouraging cooperation and confidence-building among nations in line with the objectives of the International Year of Peace and Trust.
