Dar es Salaam (MFA Somalia) – The Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, H.E. Ahmed Moallim Fiqi Ahmed, is set to participate on Friday in the preparatory ministerial meeting for the joint EAC-SADC summit on the eastern DR Congo crisis, scheduled for 07-08 February in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.

The meeting aims to formulate recommendations, decisions, and a draft communique for the upcoming summit, focusing on defusing the crisis, halting military aggression, and ensuring civilian protection.

As a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council, Somalia remains committed to advocating for a diplomatic path to peace and reconciliation in resolving the crisis.

On the sidelines of the meeting, Minister Ahmed Fiqi is expected to hold discussions with several foreign ministers from the East African Community (EAC) and the Southern African Development Community (SADC).
