Mogadishu (MFA Somalia) – The Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, H.E. Abdisalam Abdi Ali, welcomed the key decisions of the 46th GCC Supreme Council Summit held in Manama, Bahrain, on Wednesday, 3 December.
Minister Abdisalam highlighted that the summit’s final communiqué included several provisions affirming the GCC’s strong support for Somalia, emphasizing respect for the country’s sovereignty, political independence, and territorial integrity. He expressed appreciation for the Council’s continued commitment to Somalia’s stability and national priorities.
The document underscored the importance of regional support in addressing the political, security, economic, and humanitarian challenges facing Somalia. The Minister stated that Somalia is ready to expand partnerships with Gulf countries to enhance security, strengthen counter-terrorism efforts, and promote peace at the national level.
Minister Abdisalam also welcomed the focus on reinforcing fraternal relations and security cooperation, particularly in combating terrorism, noting the GCC’s condemnation of extremist acts and its call for increased regional and international support to complement Somalia’s efforts in this field.
The Minister emphasized that the Federal Republic of Somalia values the GCC’s leadership and responsible role as a key partner and appreciates its continued support in addressing political, security, economic, and humanitarian challenges.
He further expressed Somalia’s deep gratitude for the GCC’s fraternal stance and affirmed the country’s readiness to strengthen cooperative frameworks with Gulf states across all areas, looking forward to constructive partnerships that contribute to regional security, stability, and shared interests.
