Mogadishu (MFA Somalia) – The Prime Minister of the Federal Republic of Somalia, H.E. Hamza Abdi Barre, emphasized on Monday that the Somali diaspora is vital to the country’s development. He called on the diaspora to strengthen their support for the armed forces and actively participate in the implementation of elections, which aim to return power to the people and protect their democratic rights.
Addressing an event organized by the Diaspora Affairs Department (DAD) of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, held under the theme of defense and elections, the Prime Minister described the diaspora as a key driver of Somalia’s national development agenda.
“The Somali diaspora is the backbone of Vision 2060, a roadmap focused on economic growth, security, and the modernization of public institutions,” said Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre. “You are expected to contribute to national unity and actively engage in building state institutions, supporting electoral processes, and strengthening national defense.”

He further emphasized that the government values the diaspora’s key role and is taking steps to deepen collaboration and cooperation moving forward.
