Dar es Salaam (MFA Somalia) – His Excellency, President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud participated in the Joint East African Community (EAC) – Southern African Development Community (SADC) Extraordinary Summit in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.

As Somalia currently serves a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council, the President’s presence at the summit reinforces Somalia’s unwavering commitment to promoting regional peace and security.

During the summit, President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud took part in critical deliberations reaffirming Somalia’s support for a unified EAC-SADC approach to addressing the ongoing security conflict in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).

The President emphasized the urgent need for a cessation of hostilities the protection of civilians, and the facilitation of unhindered humanitarian access to affected communities in the eastern DRC.
