Somali State Minister for Foreign Affairs Discusses Bilateral Ties with Ugandan Counterpart

Kampala (MFA Somalia)- The State Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Hon. Ali Mohamed Omar, met on Wednesday in Kampala with Hon. Oryem Henry Okello, State Minister for Foreign Affairs in charge of International Cooperation of the Friendly Republic of Uganda, and discussed with him ways to enhance bilateral cooperation between the two countries.
The meeting, held on the sidelines of the 19th Intersessional Meeting of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) Foreign Ministers, was also attended by the Permanent Secretary of Somalia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, H.E. Hamza Adan Haadoow, Somali Ambassador to Uganda, H.E. Fardowsa Mohamed Qanyare Afrah, and senior officials from the Ugandan Ministry of Foreign Affairs.


During the discussions, the two ministers reviewed the longstanding bilateral relations between Somalia and Uganda and explored opportunities for the two countries to further strengthen cooperation in areas of mutual interest.
Hon. Ali Omar expressed appreciation to the Government of Uganda for its continued support to Somalia and commended the hospitality extended to Somali citizens living in Uganda.

In response, Hon. Oryem Okello highlighted the deep-rooted ties between the two countries and their peoples, emphasizing the ongoing partnership and collaboration that underpin their diplomatic and development engagements.
