Mogadishu (MFA Somalia) – H.E. Abdisalam Ali, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Federal Republic of Somalia, held talks at the Ministry’s Headquarters with the Chinese Special Envoy to the Horn of Africa, H.E. Hu Changchun, reaffirming the depth and strategic importance of bilateral relations between the two countries.
The Chinese side reiterated its firm support for Somalia’s sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity, while highlighting the historic ties between the two nations, and emphasizing its strategic geographic position as a gateway for trade and connectivity.
Somalia reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening bilateral relations and deepening cooperation across key sectors. China, in turn, expressed its readiness to work closely with Somalia in advancing shared priorities, supporting Somalia-led initiatives, and enhancing coordination on key peace and security issues, including within multilateral platforms.
Both sides also discussed expanding cooperation in fisheries and the blue economy, recognizing the sector’s importance in driving sustainable growth and unlocking Somalia’s vast maritime potential.
