Somalia and Egypt Enhance Strategic Partnership with Key Agreements

Cairo (MFA Somalia) – The Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, H.E. Ahmed Moallim Fiqi, signed today in Cairo two agreements with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Immigration, and Egyptian Expatriates Affairs of the Arab Republic of Egypt, H.E. Dr. Badr Abdelatty, encompassing cooperation in diplomatic training and the mutual exemption of visa requirements for holders of diplomatic passports, representing a significant step in enhancing bilateral relations and reinforcing the historical ties between the two countries

Under the visa exemption agreement, holders of valid diplomatic passports from both countries will be permitted to enter, exit, transit, and reside in each other’s territory for up to 90 days without requiring a prior visa.

The signing ceremony took place in the presence of H.E. Dr. Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, and H.E. Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of Egypt, underscoring the commitment of both nations to enhancing diplomatic cooperation and expanding collaboration across political, economic, security, and cultural domains.

These agreements are set to deepen bilateral relations, facilitate greater trade and cultural exchange, and contribute to regional stability by fostering mutual respect, understanding, and long-term cooperation.
