Somalia and Libya Agree to Boost Cooperation, Exchange Visits

Changsha (MFA Somalia) – The Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, H.E. Abdisalam Abdi Ali, met with the Minister in charge of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the brotherly State of Libya, H.E. Taher Salem Al-Baour, on Wednesday on the sidelines of the Ministerial Meeting of Coordinators for the Implementation of Follow-Up Actions of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC), held in Changsha, Hunan Province, and discussed with him strengthening diplomatic ties and expanding areas of mutual cooperation.
The two ministers reviewed bilateral relations and emphasized the importance of enhancing cooperation in key sectors, while reaffirming mutual support for stability and development in both countries.
Minister Abdisalam expressed his country’s full support for Libya, underlining the importance of its current non-permanent membership on the United Nations Security Council for 2025–2026. Minister Al-Baour, in turn, reaffirmed Libya’s firm commitment to Somalia’s peace, stability, unity, and development. The two ministers also agreed to enhance cooperation and arrange reciprocal official visits in the near future.
