Muscat (MFA Somalia) – H.E. Abdisalam Ali, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Federal Republic of Somalia, met with H.E. Dr. Saud bin Hamoud bin Ahmed Al Habsi, Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources of the Sultanate of Oman, to advance cooperation in livestock exports, fisheries, and agriculture. Discussions focused on improving Somali livestock access to Gulf markets, developing fisheries through joint investment, cold chain and processing infrastructure, and strengthening agricultural productivity through irrigation, technology transfer, and value chain development.
H.E. Minister Abdisalam underscored Somalia’s strategic position along the Indian Ocean and its potential as a reliable supplier within regional trade corridors, highlighting its vast coastline, livestock resources, and agricultural capacity. Both sides agreed to initiate technical engagements and promote private sector partnerships, including joint ventures and investment facilitation, to deliver practical outcomes, while reaffirming Oman’s support for Somalia’s sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity.
