Mogadishu (MFA Somalia) – The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, through its Department of Diaspora and Community Affairs, successfully convened a virtual International Diaspora Conference, bringing together Somali diaspora members, community leaders, business figures, and experts from across the globe.
The conference was opened by Permanent Secretary Hamza Adan.
Discussions focused on strengthening the diaspora’s role in Somalia’s reconstruction and development.
Participants agreed to expand secure investment opportunities for the diaspora and endorsed ongoing efforts to establish a Global Diaspora Advisory Council, envisioned as an official platform linking the diaspora with the Federal Government of Somalia.
The conference concluded in a spirit of mutual understanding, with participants affirming their commitment to sustaining regular virtual engagements between the Ministry and Somalia’s global diaspora community.
