Mogadishu (MFA Somalia) – The Federal Government of Somalia successfully evacuated 14 Somali nationals from Sudan on Monday, where they had been held in difficult conditions. Seven of the returnees arrived in Mogadishu, while the other seven reached Hargeisa.
The returnees who arrived in Mogadishu were received at Aden Abdulle International Airport by the Director of the Diaspora Affairs Department (DAD), Dr. Mohamed Hussein Gaas. Dr. Gaas expressed gratitude to the International Organization for Migration (IOM) for its cooperation and support in the evacuation process.
He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to rescuing Somali citizens from the dangers of irregular migration and ensuring the safe return of those detained abroad.
