Mogadishu (MFA Somalia) – The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Hon. Isaak Mohamud Mursal, announced the safe arrival of more than 30 Somali citizens who were voluntarily evacuated from Libya after enduring imprisonment and extremely harsh living conditions.He also noted that approximately 60 more citizens are expected to arrive in Mogadishu and Hargeisa in the coming days. These individuals were rescued from life-threatening circumstances and dangerous migration journeys.
This effort is part of the Federal Government of Somalia’s broader strategy to curb irregular migration, which has claimed the lives of many citizens attempting to leave the country through unsafe routes.Speaking on behalf of the government, the Deputy Minister called on Somali communities, as well as governmental and non-governmental organizations, to actively participate in protecting vulnerable citizens. He emphasized that ensuring their safety is a shared national responsibility.
The Deputy Minister also urged federal and state security agencies to intensify operations against human smuggling networks that facilitate the illegal movement of Somali youth.
