New York (MFA Somalia) – Beginning on January 1, 2026, the Federal Republic of Somalia officially assumed the rotating Presidency of the United Nations Security Council, in a step that reflects its stature within the international system and reaffirms its commitment to the principles of the UN Charter in safeguarding international peace and security.
During its presidency, Somalia will undertake the responsibility of leading the Council’s work and coordinating its agenda, underscoring its dedication to strengthening multilateral cooperation and supporting diplomatic solutions to global challenges
