Mogadishu (MFA Somalia) – H.E. Hamza Haadow, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, received Ms. Shoko Noda, Assistant Secretary-General of the United Nations and Director of UNDP???s Crisis Bureau, during her week-long mission to Mogadishu.
The meeting focused on advancing cooperation between the Ministry and United Nations Development Programme in line with Somalia???s national priorities, including development, elections preparedness, and humanitarian response. The UN leadership commended Somalia???s growing role at the UN Security Council and its accession to the East African Community.
Both sides underscored the urgency of addressing internally displaced persons (IDPs) and the ongoing drought, agreeing to accelerate joint, government-led efforts to support vulnerable communities and strengthen resilience across the country.
