The Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Somalia to Pakistan has officially presented his credentials to the President of Pakistan, His Excellency Mr. Asif Ali Zardari, in a formal ceremony held in Islamabad. This significant occasion marks the beginning of his diplomatic mission, aimed at fostering closer cooperation and advancing bilateral relations between Somalia and Pakistan.
The Ambassador outlined his key priorities during the meeting:
1. Strengthening Education and Culture: Boosting collaboration in education through scholarships, exchange programs, and celebrating shared cultural and heritage ties.
2. UN Security Council Cooperation: Working with Pakistan on peace, security, climate, and trade as both nations serve as non-permanent members of the UN Security Council.
3. Trade and Business Development: Promoting trade relations in health, education, IT, and other sectors, including the idea of a Pakistan-Somalia Trade Expo to connect business communities.
4. Scaling Up National ID Program: Enhancing Pakistan’s support for Somalia’s National ID program and exploring ways to expand this collaboration.
The Ambassador expressed his gratitude to His Excellency Dr. Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, and Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre, for entrusting him with this significant responsibility.
He reaffirmed his commitment to advancing Somalia’s diplomatic priorities and building stronger ties with Pakistan.
