The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MoFAIC), guided by its strategic vision for advancing Somalia’s international partnerships, hosted a high-level stakeholders consultation to strengthen diplomacy and international cooperation in alignment with Somalia’s National Transformation Plan (NTP) 2025–2029.
In his keynote address, Permanent Secretary Hamza Adan Haadoow outlined MoFAIC’s pivotal role in advancing Somalia’s transformative agenda, emphasizing the Ministry’s commitment to building strategic diplomatic partnerships. He highlighted the critical importance of inclusive politics and international collaboration in achieving the NTP’s objectives, particularly in governance and development.
The discussions revolved around aligning MoFAIC’s diplomatic strategy with the Inclusive Politics Pillar of the NTP. The consultation brought together key stakeholders, including representatives from the United Nations Development Programme UNDP in Somalia Resident Representative Lionel Laurens and Deputy Resident Representative Christopher Laker—alongside representatives from the Turkish Embassy and the Italian Embassy. Their participation underscored the strong international support for Somalia’s aspirations and the importance of fostering partnerships to drive national progress.
The consultation concluded with actionable recommendations designed to ensure MoFAIC remains at the forefront of Somalia’s diplomatic and development efforts, paving the way for sustained collaboration and long-term success.
