Foreign Minister Ambassador Ahmed Moalim Fiqi met this morning with the Secretary-General of the Arab League, His Excellency Ahmed Aboul Gheit, at the League’s headquarters in Cairo.

During the meeting, Ambassador Fiqi expressed his heartfelt gratitude for the steadfast support extended by the Arab League to the Federal Republic of Somalia. He commended the instrumental role played by the League’s ministerial committee in addressing Somalia’s concerns. The Foreign Minister also provided a comprehensive briefing on recent developments in the Horn of Africa and presented a detailed explanation of the Ankara Declaration and its strategic significance.

In response, Secretary-General Aboul Gheit reaffirmed the Arab League’s unwavering commitment to supporting Somalia across all platforms. He emphasized that Somalia continues to hold a special place among the priorities of Arab collective action.
