The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation extends its deepest condolences on the passing of the Former Minister of Foreign Affairs, General Yusuf Hassan Farah, fondly known as Yusuf Dheeg, an esteemed military expert and senior diplomat.
General Yusuf Dheeg passed away today in Hargeisa, Somalia. He dedicated his life to serving Somalia with distinction in various capacities. As a decorated General in the Somali Air Force, trained in the Soviet Union, he was instrumental during pivotal moments in the nation’s history. Transitioning into diplomacy, he served as Somalia’s Ambassador to China, strengthening international relations with excellence. His tenure as Minister of Foreign Affairs was marked by significant achievements, including representing Somalia at the United Nations General Assembly.
The Ministry expresses its heartfelt sympathies to his family, friends, and the Somali people during this time of loss. General Yusuf Dheeg’s unwavering patriotism, commitment, and service to Somalia will be fondly remembered. May Allah grant him Jannah and bring peace to his loved ones.
